This book is not yet featured on Listopia. The Witching Hour was a fascinatingly cracked historical-family saga and Lasher, although maydair much lesser work, was a disturbingly oedipal psychodrama. Taltos is like a big bucket taltps spooge, just silly and disgusting and entirely unappealing to even contemplate.

I read The Witching Hour a matfair long time ago and have not I have to say, I’m so disappointed in reading your review. I read The Witching Hour a very long time ago and have not followed it up with either Lasher or Taltos. Mayafir now feeling like I do not want to read either one of them because they will only soil all the good feelings I have for the first book.
How did Anne Rice stray so far from the original story? I find it strange that there are reviews that gave the book 5 stars although there are more that didn’t like the book at all.
I’m wondering if the author is trying to pass off some of her erotica into rbujas mainstream work.
I seriously don’t want to give my time to two books that will not live up to everything that I loved in The Witching Hour. If I could go back in time and not read this brujs, I would. This book is a mess. View all 8 comments. Char Facts are facts and truth is truth. May 11, Sheri Thank you for your honesty in this review Cody. At this point I’m not even going to waste my time to read it. There are too many great books waiting to be read. So, I am writing this review many, many years after the fact.
And along comes this book? I just couldn’t get into it. It was so horrible, squicky and stupid. In fact, my best memory of it was the woman at the laundry in Georgia who saw me reading it and warned me not to delve into books like this, they would only wreak havoc with my soul.
If only she knew how prescient that comment was! Just not i So, I am writing this review many, many years after the fact. Just not in they way she intended. You are dead to me, Anne Rice.
A profoundly dumb conclusion to the series. It’s Anne Rice—I don’t expect Chekhov. I liked “The Witching Hour” because it was smutty and dark. But the answers we receive in this book are so dumb that they reduce a good ghost story to the level of weird, sci-fi slash fiction. This is “The Force is caused by midichlorians,” level stuff. The series would have been so much better if it had just ended as a sort of open-ended horror tragedy after book one.
View all 3 comments. Well, Anne Rice is definitely committed to her vision. These were even dumber than I remembered them being from the first time I read them right after college. Why did I think they would have gotten pas View all 4 comments. Una saga que trata sobre una familia de brujas y que migra a hablar de una especie “perdida” de humanoides gigantescos.
Notice how Anne Rice’s early books brujaas good and many later books are just bloated, losing the plot in the words? taltox
I really enjoyed the first book of this series, but her editors must been afraid to anger her because this book could have used a good editing. What made me finally give up on this book was the dialog. Many things boiled down to a back and forth conversation that went on and on and really ending up being something like Pas how Anne Rice’s early books are good and many later books are just bloated, losing the plot in the words?

Taltos I (Las brujas de Mayfair #3) by Anne Rice
No, I really, really love you. Toward the end of the book, I had decided that Anne Rice was on absinthe when she wrote it. On the last page, it says she finished it at two in the morning, so probably. After chapter 20, I started skimming a few of the chapters. The ones that were about the Talamasca especially.
Mona and Mary Jane were interesting, but I don’t know. The book was so strange in it’s tone and so flippant about pedophilia.
Sadly, as one other reviewer pointed out, Anne Rice is only writing fan-fic of her characters now I was so dissapointed with the Talamasca at the end of the first or second chapter.
Way to completely ruin and emasculate one of the most interesting secret societies ever invented, Ms Rice. Really someone needs to tell her that the story within a story idea worked once even twice decently but is so old by this book it has mold on it’s mold.
Let me first say that I adored The Witching Hour and have frequently recommended that book, especially when people say they are looking for something different.
I did not not particularly care for the second book and this third one should have never been published. That is how bad it is. Anne Rice has an incredible imagination and is a very good writer, but unfortunately she is another writer that has been successful and then fallen victim to the idea that everything she sets to paper is somehow Let me first say that I adored The Witching Hour and have frequently recommended that book, especially when people say they are looking for something different.
Anne Rice has an incredible imagination and is a very good writer, but unfortunately she is another writer that has been successful and then fallen victim to the idea that everything she sets to paper is somehow interesting. Trust me it’s not. Similar to her Lestat Vampire books, the Mayfair books have just ended in a mess of boring drivel.
LAS BRUJAS DE MAYFAIR III: TALTOS ANNE RICE – Gothic-Zone
Personally I blame the publishers for this happening to writers. So many of them come up with something unique and then they just beat it into the ground book after book after book.
Instead of honing their skills and becoming better writers, they just start babbling. Why are there not more editors telling people bluntly that something is not working and in fact is incredibly nonsensical and worst than that just plain boring. Rice is just another victim of an over bloated ego and a lack of an ability to self edit. No more freaky tall babies fucking each other.
No more thirteen year olds getting pregnant with freaky tall babies fucking each other. This series has essentially ruined Anne Rices writing for me. Easiest way to get through this book was skipping the Taltos chapters. The only good character was Mary Jane, had a weird fascination with the way she spoke. Now, to read a hopefully better book than these trash heaps. It was really bad.
